On Wednesday, 3rd July, 2024, the Executive Secretariat of the Gulf of Guinea Commission (GGC) in Luanda, the host country, Angola and the Ghana Embassy in Luanda organised a commemorative event to mark the 23rd Anniversary of the establishment of the Organisation. The Embassy participated in the event by virtue of Ghana’s position as Chair of the GGC. Under the theme, Revitalisation of the Gulf of Guinea Commission, the event celebrated the Commission’s founding vision to build a safe and prosperous Gulf of Guinea for shared sustainable development of the Member States as well as other coastal states of the region.
The Guest of Honour for the occasion was the Minister for External Relations of the Republic of Angola, His Excellency Mr. Téte Antonio. Also present at the commemorative event were the Executive Secretary of the Commission, H. E. ING. Jose Mba Abeso, and the Ambassador of Ghana to Angola and Chair of the Committee of Ambassadors of the GGC (CODAM), H. E. Mavis Esi Kusorgbor. Other attendees included officials from the Angolan Government, Ambassadors of GGC Member States accredited to Angola, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, Officials from the Navy and Maritime Institutions of Angola, Representatives from Regional and International Organisations, as well as some Members of the general public.
The keynote address for the occasion was delivered by the Minister for External Relations of the Republic of Angola, His Excellency Mr. Téte Antonio. Statements were also delivered by Executive Secretary Jose Mba Abeso, and Ambassador Mavis Esi Kusorgbor, in her capacity as Chair of the Committee of Ambassadors of the GGC (CODAM).
