
The President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. John Dramani Mahama, on Saturday, 25th January, 2025, paid a Stopover Visit to the Republic of Angola, enroute to Nairobi, Kenya to participate in the retreat on African Union institutional reforms that took place from 25th to 27th January, 2025.
On arrival in Luanda, H. E. President Mahama was met on arrival by the Minister of External Relations, H.E. Mr. Tete Antonio, the Ambassador of Ghana to Angola, H. E. Mavis Esi Kusorgbor and the Ambassador of Angola to Ghana, H. E. João Baptista Domingos Quiosa.
During the visit, H. E. John Dramani Mahama was granted audience by his counterpart, the President of the Republic of Angola, H. E. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, at the Presidential Palace – Cidade Alta. The discussions held by the two Presidents were geared towards rekindling the historical bonds of friendship that happily exist between Ghana and Angola, which constitute the foundations for the mutal respect shared by our two countries.
Pursuant to the visit, it is expected that the coming years will witness vibrant engagements between the two countries as they jointly explore innovative ways to further strengthen the existing bonds of friendship. The enhancement of cooperation in all sectors of the economies of Angola and Ghana for their socio-economic transformation and development for their benefit of their people is a fundamental objective in these exploratory efforts.
