Signing of Book of Condolence following the Fatal Helicopter Crash

In the wake of the tragic helicopter crash that occurred in the Ashanti Region of Ghana on Wednesday, 6th August, 2025, which claimed the lives of the Minister for Defence, Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, as well as six other government officials, the Embassy of Ghana opened a Book of Condolence at its Chancery.

The Book of Condolence which was opened from 11th to 14th August, 2025, and was signed by the Ambassador of Ghana to Angola with concurrent accreditation to São Tomé and Príncipe, and Madagascar, alongside Ambassadors and Heads of Diplomatic Missions, as well as representatives from international and regional organizations. Also present to pay their respects were Heads of Consulates, Honorary Consuls, corporate leaders, Mission’s staff, and members of the Ghanaian community within the Embassy’s area of accreditation.

The dignitaries who signed the book expressed deep sorrow and shock over the loss of eight dedicated public servants who perished while fulfilling their duties to the nation. They conveyed heartfelt solidarity with the Government and people of Ghana, extending their sympathies to the bereaved families on the occasion of profound national loss.

Ambassador Mavis Esi Kusorgbor, who received the dignitaries during the signing expressed the profound gratitude on behalf of the Government and People of Ghana, as well as personally, and on behalf of the Embassy staff, for their presence and support during this period of national mourning and grief in Ghana.
