The Trans-African Tourism and Unity Campaign Team Arrives in Angola

8 Oct, 2025 General, Tourism

From 18th to 23rd September, 2025, the Embassy of Ghana in Luanda welcomed the Trans-African Tourism and Unity Campaign Team – a group of twelve dedicated Ghanaians led by Hon. Ras Mubarak, a former journalist and Member of Parliament of Ghana. Their arrival marked the ninth stop on an ambitious 40,000-kilometer, 120-day road journey across 39 African nations. The campaign champions visa-free travel as a catalyst for boosting tourism, enhancing cultural exchanges, and driving economic integration throughout the continent.

During their visit, the team held a productive meeting with Angola’s Minister of Tourism, His Excellency Marcio de Jesus Lopes Daniel who also received a Petition on behalf of His Excellency João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, the President of the Republic of Angola and Chair of the African Union. The Government of Angola offered its full support for the initiative, recognizing its potential to foster inclusive growth and shared prosperity across Africa.

The team explored various tourist attractions in and around Luanda, participated in live studio interviews at Radio Nacional de Angola International (RNAI), and hosted a press conference at the Chancery of the Ghanaian Embassy. These engagements aimed to share the campaign’s vision and highlight the team’s experiences in Angola with the public.

Through this initiative, the Trans-African Tourism and Unity Campaign aspires to foster a more connected and accessible Africa—one where citizens can travel freely across borders, celebrate their shared cultural heritage, and tap into the continent’s immense economic potential. The campaign also champions cultural exchange and tourism, aligning with the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) objective of enhancing intra-African trade as a driver of economic growth.

By the end of the campaign, the team seeks to secure commitments from African governments to adopt and implement policies that facilitate visa-free travel, encourage cultural exchange and tourism, and strengthen support for AfCFTA’s overarching goal of intra-African trade.
